In life, goodbyes are inevitable. Moving around like I do goodbyes are common place.
Amazing people come into your life and just as quickly are gone. You are left with a collection of new facebook friends and promises to visit each other on the other side of the world. Sometimes it works... sometimes it doesn't.
This week I had to say goodbye to Sarah. Sarah is a VSO volunteer who has been working in Indonesia for the last two years. Her work focused around children with disabilities in the mountain town of Bajawa where she worked in the local SLB (a special school for children with disabilites) and two boarding houses. She has an infectious passion for life and no matter where you are, you are sure to have a good time with Sarah around.
Sarah was the first person I met when I moved to Indonesia. She was part of the Volunteer Indonesia Working Group (VIWG) that welcomed new volunteers when we first arrived. She offered up invaluable advice about life in Indonesia, life as a volunteer and where to find the best pizza in Sanur :)
Over the last 8 month Sarah has become a close friend. As she prepares for her next adventure (a move to Uganda in October!) I wish her all the best. I hope this is Sampai Jumpa (See you next time) and not goodbye! You never know maybe the next time we meet it will sipping cold beer on the beaches of Zanzibar :)
